- I have two US Robotics Sporter 28.8 Modems ($199 each) and I would
- love to torch both. Neither one will stay connected during long
- downloads. Based on a recommendation from my Internet Provider I
- purchased a Practical Peripherals Pro Class PC288MT V.34. What a
- difference! I pushed it to the limit by simultaneously downloading
- four files at once and it never disconnected (the largest file was
- 6MB. It also connects at 28.8, not 26.2 or whatever. This modem cost
- me $299 (external version) but it is worth every dime. If I could
- start over I would not own a "cheap" V.34 modem.
